Viva Fiesta! Viva Pochoir!

Have you yet to discover the French art of pochoir, a hand stenciling approach to printmaking? Let us properly introduce you through our current exhibition  Design, Fashion, Theatre: The Art of Pochoir in France, 1910-30. We are so inspired by this technique that our 2015 Fiesta medal resembles Georges Lepape’s Serais-je en avance?, a pochoir piece displaying vibrant colors and bold patterns so characteristic of this printmaking medium. Can you see the resemblance?

Learn more about the pochoir technique during  Family Art Play: Extra-Special Stencils, a program geared towards families, this Sunday, April 19. Sessions at 1:00 & 3:00 pm. We will be using colored pigments and metal plates to create layered designs with artist Lesta Frank.

Be sure to purchase your 2015 McNay Fiesta medal, available in the museum store for $8.00. Show your museum pride and wear one this Fiesta! The McNay medal can also be purchased at the Fiesta Store on Broadway.
