LOVE) and FREE General and Robert Indiana: Beyond LOVE admission on Sunday. San Antonio, TX- The McNay Art Museum opened its doors as the first museum of Modern Art in Texas in 1954, to celebrate 60 years or art and service to our community, and to honor our founder Marion Koogler McNay, the museum has planned four days of festivities. Ranging from lectures, concerts, family activities, and even a 5k race/walk there is with something for everyone.

Sway to music of the 1960s with your Valentine or favorite +1. This romantic evening includes

champagne, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, dancing, and classic entertainment by the Allegro Stage

Company directed by Tim Hedgepeth and Tom Masinter.

Saturday, February 15 | noon–5:00 pm

McNay docents offer free tours each hour with highlights from the McNay collection, focusing on

the bequests of founder Marion Koogler McNay.

5K RUN

Sunday, February 16 | 10:00–11:00 am

A one-of-a-kind 5K run around the museum grounds. Train extra hard because best time winners

(10 year increment categories) take home a limited-edition screenprint, designed by Chris Davila,

specifically for the run. The after-party and awards ceremony includes food for purchase from San Antonio’s favorite food trucks and a musical performance by Hyperbubble that will make

even the most tired athletes dance their way to the activity-packed 60th Anniversary

Free Family Day: Happy Birthday, McNay!

The McNay | Celebrating 60 Years | 1954-2014

Built by artist and educator Marion Koogler McNay in the 1920s, her Spanish Colonial Revival

residence became the site of Texas’s first museum of modern art when the McNay opened in

1954. Today more than 150,000 visitors a year enjoy works by modern masters including Paul

Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock,

and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. 23 acre beautifully landscaped grounds include sculptures by Kiki

Smith, Joel Shapiro, George Rickey, Phillip Grausman.The 45,000-square-foot Jane & Arthur

Stieren Center for Exhibitions designed by internationally renowned French architect Jean-Paul

Viguier features three major exhibitions annually.

Tuesday–Friday, 10 am–4 pm; Thursday, 10 am–9 pm;

Saturday, 10 am–5 pm; Sunday, noon–5 pm.

The McNay is closed on Mondays, New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and

Christmas.

Admission to the McNay

Admission to the McNay ranges from $10 to $15 (for adults) and $5 to $12 for (students, seniors

and active military) depending on the exhibitions and galleries on view. Admission is FREE for

McNay members and children 12 and under. Please visit www.mcnayart.org for current

admission prices. Entrance to Main Collection Galleries is FREE on H-E-B Thursday Nights(4–

9pm) and on AT&T First Sundays of the Month. During FREE times, an optional admission

charge applies only for entrance to special exhibitions.
