HIP TO BE SQUARE FUNDRAISING EVENT FEATURES 300 UNIQUE ARTWORKS FOR SALE FROM OVER 150 LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND NATIONAL ARTISTS

Tickets On Sale Now for Special Evening of Art,Dancing, Food, and Cocktails for a Cause

San Antonio, TX (August 19, 2019) – The McNay Art Museum is pleased to present Hip To Be Square, an after-hours event organized by the McNay Contemporary Collectors Forum (MCCF) to benefit the McNay’s contemporary art collection and engage with San Antonio’s vibrant art community. The highly-anticipated event will be held at the Museum on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 7–10 p.m.

Tickets are $50 per person.

Three hundred unique artworks on 12×12 inch square canvases from over 150 local, regional, and national artists will be on sale throughout the evening. Each work of art is priced at $100 and the artist will remain anonymous until the time of purchase. All proceeds from the event benefit the McNay Contemporary Collectors Forum (MCCF) and its art acquisition fund. The fund brings new works of art to the McNay’s collection annually for the entire community to enjoy.

Guests are invited to browse the collection of one-of-a-kind works of art while enjoying a signature cocktail by San Antonio Cocktail Conference, savory hors d’oeuvres by Bohanan’s and Peggy’s on the Green, and desserts by Chocollazo.

About the McNay Art Museum

The McNay Art Museum engages a diverse community in the discovery and enjoyment of the visual arts. Built in the 1920s by artist and educator Marion Koogler McNay, the Spanish Colonial Revival residence became the site of Texas’s first museum of modern art when it opened in 1954. Today, 200,000 visitors a year enjoy works by modern masters including Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, Edward Hopper, Joan Mitchell, Alice Neel, Georgia O’Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. For almost 65 years, the McNay has enchanted visitors with its art, architecture, and ambiance. The museum offers rich and varied exhibitions as well as rotating displays in the Main Collection Galleries from the 20,000 works in the collection; more than 45,000 adults, teachers, students, and families take advantage of a variety of education programs and innovative educational resources.
