MUSEUM STORES IN SAN ANTONIO UNITE FOR THIRD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL “MUSEUM STORE SUNDAY” ON DECEMBER 1, 2019


San Antonio, Texas (November 25, 2019)
– On Sunday, December 1, 2019, over 1,200 Museum Stores representing 50 states, 18 countries, and five continents will offer relaxing, inspired shopping inside your favorite museums and cultural institutions. Museum Store Sunday offers a special shopping experience in one-of-a kind stores, showcasing broad assortments of highly curated, unique, mission-specific gifts. From books to jewelry to children’s products to home accessories and gourmet food, there is something for everyone. Shopping in a Museum Store supports the missions and programs of each participating museum and cultural institution.

Participating San Antonio Museum Stores include: Briscoe Western Art Museum, McNay Art Museum, San Antonio Museum of Art, and the Witte Museum.

On December 1, individual institutions will offer the following:

  • Briscoe Western Art Museum: The Briscoe Western Art Museum Store will open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 10% off entire purchase for non-members and 30% off entire purchase for members (exclusions apply).
  • McNay Art Museum: The McNay Art Museum Store will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, for the launch of Museum Member Double Discount Days. Current McNay members will receive 20% off entire purchase and non-members will receive 10% off entire purchase.
  • San Antonio Museum of Art:The San Antonio Museum of Art shop will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all of your holiday shopping needs 10% off entire purchase for non-members, and 20% off entire purchase for members (exclusions apply).

  • Witte Museum: The Bolner Family Museum Store will be open from Noon to 5 p.m. Museum Store Sunday offerings 10% off entire purchase for non-members and 20% off entire purchase for members (some exclusions may apply).

The mission of Museum Store Sunday is of global reach. In partnership with the United Kingdom’s Association for Cultural Enterprises and the Museum Shops Association of Australia and New Zealand, MSA’s Museum Store Sunday aims to be the global annual day to Be a Patron — shop conscientiously and support museum stores and their missions worldwide.

Briscoe Western Art Museum:
The Briscoe Western Art Museum, named in honor of the late Texas Governor, Dolph Briscoe, Jr. and his wife, Janey, preserves and interprets the art, history, and culture of the American West through engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and public events reflective of the region’s rich traditions and shared heritage.


McNay Art Museum:

The Witte Museum was named after San Antonio businessman Alfred G. Witte, who bequeathed $65,000 to the city for construction of a museum of art, science, and natural history. The Witte Museum was established in 1926 and is located in Brackenridge Park in San Antonio, Texas. It is dedicated to telling the stories of Texas, from prehistory to the present.
